Culver City-based Sony Pictures Entertainment has named the husband and wife team of Jim and Barrie Loeks to run its Loews Theatres circuit.
The Loeks, who will be based in New York, take over from Alan Friedberg, who is retiring at the end of the year.
They previously managed the Michigan-based theater chain Loeks-Star Partners in conjunction with Sony. Sony Pictures Chairman Peter Guber said the Loeks proved, through their success in Michigan, that they are “ideally qualified” to lead Loews into the next century.
