Katja Seizinger of Germany gained her first World Cup downhill victory this season, beating Carole Merle of France by .49 at Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
Americans Hilary Lindh, who was fifth, and Picabo Street, who finished eighth, had their best World Cup downhill finishes.
Katharina Gutensohn-Knopf of Germany tore ligaments in her right knee during the race and will miss the rest of the season.
