GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : James Directs Rancho Alamitos Past La Quinta

Forward Timerie James scored 21 points, including two three-pointers, to lead Rancho Alamitos, the sixth-ranked team in the county, to a 65-52 victory over La Quinta in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Friday at La Quinta High School.
La Quinta led by one point after the first quarter, but the Vaqueros (13-4, 5-0 in league) outscored La Quinta, 24-11, in the second quarter.
Linda Rodriguez scored 20 points for La Quinta (9-4, 2-3). LaShanda Randle added 11 points for Rancho Alamitos.
In other Garden Grove League games:
Garden Grove 63, Los Amigos 37--Stephanie Werdal scored 21 points and Nichol Murray added 17 points and 13 rebounds for visiting Garden Grove (8-7, 3-2). Carmela Zavala had 10 points for Los Amigos (1-9, 0-5).
Kennedy 53, Bolsa Grande 22--Lynly Matsumoto had 16 points and 13 assists to lead Kennedy (11-4, 4-1) past visiting Bolsa Grande (5-8, 1-4).
Santiago 68, Pacifica 39--America Robledo scored 32 points, and Rachel Matemate had 13 points and 11 rebounds for host Santiago (11-3, 4-1). Michelle Stark had 12 points for Pacifica (1-4 in league).
In a nonleague game:
Liberty Christian 48, Oceanside Tri-City Christian 31--Freshman Jessica Clark had 14 points to lead Liberty Christian (6-8).
