COMMUNITY COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Saddleback Beats Rancho Santiago to Stop Its Slide

Saddleback outscored Rancho Santiago by 27 points in the second half of a 77-48 victory over the Dons in an Orange Empire Conference women’s game Friday at Saddleback. The victory stopped a five-game losing streak.
Gillian Bean had 18 points, Shelly Calhoun 15 and Megan Rehwoldt 14 for Saddleback (4-11, 1-3).
Yessenia Cota scored 12 points for Rancho Santiago (4-13, 0-3), which trailed at the half, 27-25, but was outscored in the second half, 50-23.
In other conference games:
Golden West 75, Fullerton 56--Melanie Iwamasa had 23 points for Golden West (22-2, 3-0), the second-ranked team in the state. Erika Miller scored 19 for Golden West, which led, 39-25, at the half. Fullerton is 12-12, 2-2.
Riverside 67, Cypress 53--Guard Delilah Vergara led visiting Riverside (17-6, 3-0) with 21 points. Mater Dei graduate Joan Maurer scored 13 points for Cypress (10-10, 1-3).
