Buccaneer Owner Has Recurrence of Cancer

Hugh Culverhouse, 73, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was hospitalized Friday because of a cancerous tumor on his lung.
A biopsy confirmed a recurrence of a malignant tumor nearly two years after he underwent surgery for removal of an earlier growth.
“The doctors have told us that the situation is serious, but they are optimistic,” said Buccaneer President Gay Culverhouse, daughter of the owner.
“My father has removed himself from active management of the Buccaneers and many of his other affairs for several years, so there should be little, if any, effect on his or the team’s business operations.”
