WESTMINSTER : Schools to Report on Possible Budget Cuts

Westminster School District officials will report tonight on potential budget cuts for the 1993-94 school year, reductions expected to be deeper than the more than $600,000 slashed last year.
The district staff also will report on how Gov. Pete Wilson’s budget will affect the district, which shaved $606,500 from its $26-million budget last year.
“We are still in the process of calculating the total loss to our district, but along with other districts throughout the state, we’ve been expecting a very, very tough year,” Assistant Supt. Barbara Winars said.
The public can offer budget-cutting suggestions by submitting written or oral comments to the superintendent’s office through Feb. 4.
The district staff will present a tentative list of proposed cuts to the board at a work session Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.
The public may comment on those proposed cuts at a hearing on Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The board will approve final reductions on Feb. 25.
All meetings will be at district headquarters at 14121 Cedarwood Drive.
