Countywide : New Leader Picked for Taxpayers Group

The executive committee of the Ventura County Taxpayers Assn. has picked a Camarillo businessman to replace vocal county critic H. Jere Robings as the group’s executive director.
Association President Lindsay Nielson said the seven-member panel has selected Michael Saliba, 50, for the $30,000-a-year post. Robings was fired two weeks ago after board members said he was too confrontational.
The association’s directors are expected to ratify the selection Monday.
Saliba is a Stanford University graduate who has worked as an executive in the oil industry.
