Ex-Laguna Hills Swimmer Fischer Dies in Explosion

Brian Fischer, a Nevada Las Vegas swimmer and former standout at Laguna Hills High, died in an an explosion at his off-campus apartment Thursday night, the UNLV sports information department said Friday. He was 22.
Las Vegas police are investigating the explosion, which occurred at about 8:30. Fischer was the only person injured in the incident.
Fischer graduated from Laguna Hills, where he was one of the top Southern Section swimmers. As a senior, he finished second in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles, setting All-American times in both events.
Fischer attended Syracuse, but transferred to UNLV last year. He was majoring in hotel management.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
