Stefan Edberg’s Wimbledon preparations were jarred Friday when he was defeated by 83rd-ranked Australian Jamie Morgan, 4-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the Queen’s Club grass-court championships at London.
Edberg held two match points in the second-set tiebreaker, but failed to capitalize.
“I had a chance to win, but I didn’t take it,” Edberg said. “Today was one of those days you have once or twice a year. It was bad, that’s all I can say, but that’s the way it goes. I don’t think this will spoil my chances for Wimbledon.”
