Leaving Chi-Chi’s: Joseph Micatrotto won’t be around to run Restaurant Enterprises Group’s Mexican restaurant division after Irvine-based REG completes its recapitalization. Micatrotto has resigned as president of Chi-Chi’s, the Louisville, Ky.-based, Mexican-style restaurant chain that is being sold to REG.
Foodmaker Inc., the San Diego company that will own a big chunk of REG after the recapitalization is completed, said earlier that Micatrotto would serve as president of Chi-Chi’s and REG’s existing El Torito chain. Together, the two chains have 315 locations, which will make REG the nation’s largest operator of Mexican-style, full-service restaurants.
“We won’t have an announcement on who will take his place for about 30 days,” a Foodmaker spokeswoman said Wednesday.
