Lake Casitas has been freshly stocked with more than 7,000 pounds of rainbow trout, and another 1,700 pounds of catfish is due Tuesday, the recreation area announced this week.
“The fishing looks pretty good, and we’re looking forward to Tuesday’s plant,” said Brent Doan, a ranger at the Lake Casitas Recreation Area.
Doan said lake officials specifically scheduled the plants for this time of year to ensure good fishing during the holidays, when many people take time off work.
The Casitas Municipal Water District planted 2,500 pounds of rainbow trout in the lake Dec. 16. The California Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake with another 4,700 pounds of trout in the past six days.
Individual day passes to get into the recreation area cost $5. Twelve-month passes were increased Wednesday from $45 to $50. The fees for buses to enter the area are now $30, up from $10. For information, call the recreation area at 649-2233.
