Camera Hogs Detract From Real News

This is a little late, but I feel this has to be put in print: It is understandable that television news needs those man-on-the-street reports. But to watch people mobbing around a TV reporter and acting crazy and members of gangs showing their gang signs is deplorable.
When a Channel 7 reporter was interviewing some people who were possibly becoming homeless because of the Northridge earthquake, they were nervous, but otherwise calm, because of theordeal. But, in the background, there were people dancing around, like it’s a party, showing their gang symbols, showing no respect to the people being interviewed.
I feel that the news producers--of all networks--should show common sense and black out that interview and switch to another area.
We have enough problems with gangs in this great city, so why should we glorify them by showing their rudeness?
