The Ventura County Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of thieves who stole air bags and stereos from BMWs in a Thousand Oaks auto dealer’s lot last week.
The cars were parked at the Rusnak BMW dealership when thieves smashed the windows of 11 cars between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, police said. Five of the cars belonged to customers who had dropped them off for repairs.
The thieves removed air bag assemblies from the steering wheels of eight cars and took the Alpine or Pioneer stereos from 10. The loss totaled $26,000, police said.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK in Thousand Oaks and Moorpark, 987-TALK in Camarillo, 385-TALK in Oxnard or 986-TALK in Port Hueneme.
Callers may remain anonymous and will be assigned a number as their only identification to authorities. If the information leads to an arrest with a criminal complaint filed, the caller will be eligible for the reward.
