Lockheed-Russian Venture Gets New Order: Lockheed-Khrunichev-Energia International, formed 18 months ago to provide commercial satellite launches using Russian-built Proton rockets, now has orders for nine launches valued at $600 million, LKEI officials said. The backlog includes a recent multi-launch order from SES, a French-based provider of television services, and a previously announced award from Loral Corp. of New York. LKEI called the SES contract “an extremely important win” because the venture’s main rival is industry leader Arianespace of Europe.
