NBA ROUNDUP : Pippen Stars Despite Bad Night

Scottie Pippen scored only 17 points on five-for-13 shooting, had a game-high six turnovers and was called for a technical foul with 3:07 left with the Chicago Bulls trailing the Boston Celtics by a point Wednesday night at Boston.
But Pippen hit a three-pointer with 51 seconds left to break a 98-98 tie and give the Bulls a 101-100 victory.
Pippen’s winning shot was the only three-pointer of the game. Boston’s Dee Brown missed a three-pointer with 2.4 seconds left.

Alonzo Mourning scored 20 points and had three blocked shots as the Charlotte Hornets limited Atlanta to 35% shooting in a 92-79 victory at Charlotte. . . . The Dallas Mavericks came close to stopping their current losing streak at eight, but Orlando’s Donald Royal hit a fallaway jumper at the buzzer to give the Magic a 100-98 victory at Orlando. Shaquille O’Neal led Orlando with 34 points and 21 rebounds. He made 12 of 12 free throws. . . . Reggie Miller scored 34 points as the Indiana Pacers defeated the Phoenix Suns, 109-98, at Indianapolis. . . . Dale Ellis and David Robinson scored 27 points apiece and Ellis came within two of becoming the first NBA player with 1,000 three-point goals as the San Antonio Spurs beat Portland, 110-102, at San Antonio. . . . Mitch Richmond scored 25 points and Olden Polynice had 16 points and 12 rebounds in a 132-111 victory over New Jersey at Sacramento. The Kings scored 46 points in the fourth quarter.
