Kinney Pitches No-Hitter

RIALTO — Hoover High sophomore Tina Kinney threw the first no-hitter of her career and struck out 10 to lead the Tornadoes to a 6-0 victory Thursday over Eisenhower in a nonleague game.
Kinney (6-4), a right-hander, walked one and faced only two batters over the minimum.
It is the first no-hitter by a Hoover pitcher since last year’s graduation of Nancy Evans, whose 24 no-hitters rank fifth in Southern Section history. Evans is now pitching for top-ranked Arizona.
Meredith Butler went two for three with a triple for Hoover (6-4).
Hoover scored three runs in the seventh inning break open the game.
