OCC Crew Again Wins Newport Title

NEWPORT BEACH — The Orange Coast College crew won the Newport Invitational Rowing Regatta for the ninth consecutive time Sunday on North Lido Channel in Newport Harbor.
OCC boats were first in the Novice 8, Novice 4 and Junior Varsity 8, and second in the Varsity 4 to total 22 points. Second-place Santa Clara had 15; Long Beach State was third with 12.
OCC’s Junior Varsity 8 had the fastest time covering the 2,000-meter course, finishing in 5 minutes 49.7 seconds. Long Beach won the Varsity 8 race in 5:53.2. UC Irvine was second in 5:54.8.
