A 17-year-old Norwalk youth was shot in the back late Sunday in what police are investigating as a possible gang-related assault.
The victim, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, was in serious but stable condition Monday at UCI Medical Center in Orange, La Habra Police Sgt. Perry Miller said.
No arrests have been made in the shooting, which investigators believe involved gangs, Miller said.
About 10 p.m. Sunday, police received a call about shots being fired on the 600 block of West 4th Avenue. When officers arrived, they were told one person had been hit and found the victim shot in the back, Miller said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call the Police Department at (310) 905-9750.
