MADISON, Wis. — An ex-carpenter making a point about wheelchair access used an electric saw to cut away part of a desk to fit her wheelchair alongside her classmates’ seats.
“I’d like to take my place among you as your classmate,” Brigid McGuire, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, told the class before she started sawing.
Dean Daniel Bernstine said that the school might discipline McGuire, a former carpenter who broke her back in an industrial accident.
