Michio Suzuki; U.S. Health Official

Michio (Mike) Suzuki, director of the Office of Policy Coordination and Analysis of the Administration on Aging for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, died of a heart attack Wednesday in a Rockfille, Md., hospital. He was 65.
Before moving to Washington in 1972, Suzuki was instrumental in re-establishing Shonien: Japanese Children’s Home and Child Welfare Center in Los Angeles. The center had been closed with the internment of Southern California Japanese Americans during World War II. Suzuki was among the internees.
He had also been chief of social services for the California Department of Social Welfare.
