SYLMAR — Krista Stark of First Lutheran High did not single-handedly defeat crosstown rival L.A. Lutheran in a girls’ basketball game Thursday night.
Stark had a little help from her friends. But not much.
Incredibly, Stark scored 49 points in a 51-45 victory at L.A. Lutheran, including all of the Falcons’ 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead First Lutheran’s come-from-behind surge. L.A. Lutheran led, 39-32, after three quarters.
The scoring total was a season-high for Stark, who scored 53 in a game last season.
Two teammates--reserve Shawntee Busher and starter Kristina Moodt--each scored a point to help the cause.
Stark was 21 of 33 shooting and seven of 14 from the free-throw line.
She also grabbed eight rebounds and was unsuccessful in eight three-point attempts.
First Lutheran improved to 4-4, 2-1 in Heritage League play.
