Preliminary Hearing Today for Beauregard

Cal State Northridge football player Jonathan Beauregard is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing today at 1:30 p.m. in San Bernardino Municipal Court.

Beauregard, 22, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder in August.

He is accused of shooting his former girlfriend and her male acquaintance outside a San Bernardino bar. Beauregard is free on $100,000 bond.

Baseball

Larry Thornhill, general manager of two radio stations in the Antelope Valley, has resigned to take a position as general manager of the Antelope Valley Ravens, an independent minor-league team that plans to begin play in May.

Thornhill was general manager of KAVL-AM and HOT 97-FM stations, and was the voice of the Antelope Valley College football and basketball teams on KAVL.

The Ravens are scheduled to compete in the newly formed Golden State Baseball League, an independent league with six teams scattered across the state.

Sunrise Little League has scheduled sign-ups for spring play Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its complex in Winnetka. Players ages 5 to 15 are eligible.

Mike Steussie, a defensive lineman for Valley College last season, has accepted a scholarship offer from Carroll College, an NAIA Division II school in Helena, Mont.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound Steussie is the brother of Minnesota Viking offensive tackle Todd Steussie.
