Mater Dei has been so dominant this season that the Monarchs seldom have had to depend on one player to win a game. But trailing by five in the fourth quarter Thursday in the Division I regional semifinal, Mater Dei turned to Jackson. He scored 12 consecutive Mater Dei points, outscoring Los Angeles Fairfax, 12-3, during the span, and led the Monarchs to a 41-28 victory. Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight said he expects such play from Jackson, who finished with 15 points. “The more the kids feel that we could get beat, the better he plays,” McKnight said. Jackson also had 22 points in a 65-47 victory over Long Beach Poly and 26 points and 14 rebounds in a 78-51 victory over Clovis West.
