With the score tied late in the fourth quarter of the Southern California Regional final between Brea Olinda and Woodbridge, Stovall took over for the Warriors. She penetrated Brea’s zone, made a short jump shot, was fouled and made the free throw. “She can find a seam in a defense as good as anybody,” Woodbridge Coach Eric Bangs said. A few seconds later, Stovall stepped in front of a pass and sped down the court for the breakaway layup that assured Woodbridge’s 53-49 victory and spot in the State title game. Stovall scored 14 points, seven in the fourth quarter. Earlier in the week, she averaged 20.5 points in victories over Pasadena Muir and San Diego Scripps Ranch.
