Nest Stops Bullet Trains

TOKYO — It wasn’t faster than a speeding bullet, but a bird still stopped those powerful symbols of Japan’s technological prowess, the bullet trains.
A bird built a nest atop overhead power lines, causing a short circuit and forcing railway engineers to stop service on two train lines for more than two hours Thursday.
Seven trains were canceled, affecting about 25,000 passengers.
