Knott’s 75th Birthday: Though it may be overshadowed by the hoopla surrounding Disneyland’s 40th anniversary, Knott’s Berry Farm is celebrating 75 years in business this year.
Besides its new “Jaguar!” roller coaster, the Buena Park attraction is offering a skating show tied to its own history. “Diamonds on Ice: a Knott’s Celebration” is billed as “a stirring skating tribute to the history of America and America’s first theme park.”
Hence, the stage numbers feature scenes from the wild West and the park’s Snoopy character.
Knott’s Berry Farm began as a roadside boysenberry stand along Beach Boulevard in 1920. It became such a regular stop for families on the way to the beach that the Knott family later started selling chicken dinners and added a Ghost Town to amuse diners while they waited for a table.
