SUN VALLEY — At least 18 people were taken to local hospitals Saturday morning after suffering dizziness, nausea and headaches from a carbon monoxide leak at a factory here.
More than 40 people were forced to evacuate KLH Industries, a company that makes car speakers, after employees began coughing and wheezing. Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said officials originally believed that there was a chemical spill at the plant, but later realized it was a carbon monoxide leak of unknown origin.
Late in the day, Wells said, investigators were still searching for the source of the leak.
A few businesses and the immediate four-block area were evacuated as a safety precaution.
