An unknown assailant fired four bullets at two Ventura County sheriff’s deputies early Monday morning in a residential area of north Oxnard.
The deputies had just arrested a man at 4:15 a.m. at Ventura Road and Fuchsia Street on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs, when several bullets whizzed by their heads.
Deputies Mark Jurisic and Anthony Aguirre were not harmed and their patrol car was not hit. The arrest of the driver, who was locked in the patrol car, was unrelated, police said.
A search by the Sheriff’s Department and Oxnard police officers turned up no signs of the bullets or shell casings.
