UPS Gets $1-Billion Contract: The package delivery company said it signed a five-year contract with JC Penney Co. It is the largest contract ever awarded to UPS and is believed to be the largest ever in the delivery industry. Under its terms, Atlanta-based United Parcel Service will be the preferred carrier for JC Penney’s small package air deliveries and for some of its ground shipments.
