South African Economy Growing Strongly: South African Chamber of Business said the country’s post-apartheid economy is heading for its strongest growth in seven years in 1995, but is still exposed to a number of “cross currents.” “We think a 3% growth rate is more or less in the bag for this year,” the chamber’s director general Raymond Parsons told a news conference. This exceeded the 2.3% expansion recorded last year, but he said it fell short of what was needed to tackle post-apartheid development challenges, including unemployment running at a third of the available work force.
