The Franciscan Hill Condominiums in Santa Clarita, severely damaged in the Northridge earthquake, came under the wrecking ball Tuesday.
But the battle over the condos, built in 1987, is far from over.
Former residents, on hand for the demolition, filed a $7-million class-action lawsuit in September against the developer--Newhall Land and Farming Co.--claiming that the structures were poorly designed, not built to code and made of defective materials.
A spokeswoman for Newhall Land said the company would not comment “because it is a pending lawsuit.”
