Dr. Caligari
(NR) Stephen Sayadian’s flick is a kinky updating of the silent German classic, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.” This strange, funny and difficult to describe full-length feature was made in Fullerton on a tiny budget in 1989. Screens Friday at 8 p.m. at the Huntington Beach Art Center, 538 Main St., Huntington Beach. $4 general admission, $2 for museum members. (714) 374-1650.
The Pride of the Yankees
(NR) Many fans consider this 1942 picture about Lou Gehrig the best baseball movie ever made. Well, it is entertaining, in a sentimental Hollywood sort of way, but it’s also contrived and emotionally pushy. Gary Cooper, in one of his typically upstanding and manly roles, stars. Screens Friday at 12:45 p.m. at the Cypress Senior Citizen Center, 9031 Grindlay St., Cypress. FREE. (714) 229-6776.
