Various Artists, “Let’s Bop: Sun Rockabilly Volume 1,” AVI ***. After Elvis Presley caught on in the ‘50s, scores of would-be rockabilly singers flocked to Sun Records in Memphis in hopes of being the Next Big Thing. And some made it, including Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. But this album focuses on the artists who didn’t make it. Since some of the tracks are quite appealing, it’s easy to imagine the heartache of the singers, who seemed so close to their dreams.
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
