Dolco Packaging Corp., a Studio City-based manufacturer of plastic packaging products, reported a 22% jump in net income for the second quarter that ended June 30.
The company posted a profit of $1.17 million in the second quarter, compared to $959,000 in the same three-month period a year earlier. Sales climbed to $20.2 million, up 31% from $15.4 million a year earlier.
For the first six months of the year, Dolco reported earnings of $2.64 million on sales of $39.7 million, compared to year-earlier net income of $2.33 million on sales of $32.5 million.
The company attributed the improved results to increases in sales of egg cartons, poultry processor trays and other food packaging products made largely of polystyrene.
