East Los Angeles College has established a scholarship trust fund for the daughter of Norma de la Cruz, 21, one of three college students killed by a hit-and-run driver last spring.
De la Cruz and two other women were at a crosswalk at Gage and Woodward avenues in Bell when they were killed on their way to classes. A Bell Gardens man was charged with murder, felony hit-and-run and felony grand theft auto in connection with the incident.
The trust fund will help De la Cruz’s 6-year-old daughter with future college education expenses, said Sharon Allerson, one of De la Cruz’s teachers at the college.
