ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : 1st European Tourists

The first European explorers in what is now Orange County spent eight days here in 1769.
The Spaniards, led by Don Gaspar de Portola, arrived in what is now San Clemente on July 22 and marched out of what is now La Habra on July 30. They made their last camp near what was to become Hillcrest Park in Fullerton.
