Apple to Ship PowerBooks Using Old-Style Batteries: Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple Computer Inc. said it will start shipping the portable computers today with nickel metal hydride batteries, which last between two and four hours. That is about 20% less time than the new lithium ion batteries, which caught fire in two computers and prompted a recall.
