Newbury Park resident Gary Richard Gaddess, 57, died early Sunday.
Gaddess, a senior vice president for Fiserv, a financial services company, was born in Long Beach and raised in Merced.
After a two-year stint in the Army, he began a career in banking and finance that lasted until his death from cancer, said Ovalee Gaddess, his wife of 35 years.
A job with First Interstate Bank brought the couple to Ventura County in 1980. He worked for the bank 27 years, becoming a senior vice president before he left to join Fiserv.
Ovalee Gaddess said her husband valued hard work and had little time for some of his other interests, such as golf.
Gaddess worked long hours and had constant business travel, she said, but her husband still loved life and the people around him.
Other survivors include son Jeff Gaddess and daughter Michele Kosanke, both of Newbury Park.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary. Services will be held Saturday at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village.
Donations can be made in Gaddess’ name to the American Cancer Society.
