The Manhattan Beach City Council is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who robbed a young couple strolling on the beach Oct. 1 and killed the man.
Christopher Dewayne Barreto, 25, of Culver City, was stabbed to death and his girlfriend, a 22-year-old from Huntington Beach, was injured after they handed over money and jewelry to three men and then tried to flee, police said.
The suspects--in their late teens or early twenties--may have left the Manhattan Beach Pier area in an older model, four-door car shortly after the 2:30 a.m. slaying, said police Sgt. Dave Ferguson.
The car, white or light-gray in color and dented, was last seen headed north on Manhattan Avenue.
Anyone with information on the crime can call the Manhattan Beach Police at (310) 545-5621 Ext. 201 or Ext. 206.
