Rodriguez, Bryan Reach Round of 16

Mike Bryan of Camarillo and Bobby Rodriguez of Sherman Oaks advanced to the round of 16 in the $12,500 L.A. Fitness Warner Center satellite professional tennis tournament Wednesday in Woodland Hills.
Bryan defeated Clinton Marsh of South Africa, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0, and Rodriguez defeated Todd Nelson of San Diego, 6-3, 7-6 (6-0).

The task force entrusted with finding a way for Cal State Northridge to meet the requirements of the Big Sky Conference while staying within its budget will hold its first meeting today.
Athletic Director Paul Bubb expects a final report from the committee Oct. 22.
The committee includes Don Strametz, track and cross country coach; Dave Baldwin, football coach; Janet Sherman, softball coach; John Price, men’s volleyball coach; Wendy Nakashima, a women’s soccer player; Evan Howland, who plays on the baseball team; Gary Gray of the Athletic Assn.; Tony Partapillo of the Northridge Corporation board; Bob Kiddo Sr. of the accounting faculty, and Barb Swerkes of the kinesiology department.
Two Northridge student government leaders, to be chosen Tuesday night, will join the committee.
The chairman is William Watkins, assistant Vice President for Student Life.
Channel Islands High has coaching vacancies in four sports: boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, wrestling and boys’ track.
