In honor of the college’s new dance major, Moorpark College will host a dance performance tonight featuring artists who helped create the program over the past 15 years.
The dancers will include John Pennington of the Bella Lewitzky Company performing Scott Heinzerling’s “Isaac Wanted”; L. Martina Young of the Los Angeles Dance Theatre performing Donald McKayle’s “Angelitos Negros”; Sam Weber, a tap dancer with the Jazz Tap Ensemble, performing “Ariel”; and June Watanabe, a San Franciso-based performer. Watanabe just returned from Japan, where she received a fellowship, and has been picked twice as Young Choreographer of the Year at the American Dance Festival.
The performance will take place at 8 p.m. in the college’s recently opened 400-seat Performing Arts Center.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors and children and can be reserved by calling (805) 378-1458.
