SANTA ANA — Hamilton Materials Inc. in Orange agreed to pay $82,000 in restitution and fines to settle civil charges that its 25-pound bags of plaster compound were, on average, several ounces short of the stated amount.
Without admitting liability, the company also agreed to a court order requiring that the contents of its products comply with the net weight stated on the packages.
The case was brought by the Orange County district attorney’s office after an investigation by the state Department of Food and Agriculture’s division of measurement standards.
