ANAHEIM — A newborn girl was found alive Sunday in a plastic garbage bag abandoned in the bed of a pickup truck, police said.
The infant was only 1 to 2 hours old when she was found by two people who had heard the baby crying, police said. The truck was in the underground parking structure of an apartment building on the 500 block of Center Street.
Paramedics were called to the scene about 2:15 p.m. and found the baby hypothermic but in good condition, authorities said. The girl, who weighs 7 pounds and 13 ounces, was transported to Anaheim Memorial Hospital. She is believed to be Latina, authorities said.
Police said the owners of the truck were not involved and could provide no information about the infant.
Police have asked that anyone with information about the infant’s mother to contact Investigator G. Reneau at (714) 254-1971.
