Newbury Park’s Fox Hits Perfecta Against Channel Islands, 5-0

Newbury Park High pitcher Kristi Fox, an All-Ventura County selection by The Times last year, pitched a perfect game to lead the No. 2-ranked Panthers to a 5-0 victory over Channel Islands on Tuesday in a Marmonte League softball game at Borchard Park.
Fox had 13 strikeouts.
Amy Berman had two hits, including a double, and two runs batted in for the Panthers (7-0, 2-0 in league play).
Palmdale 4, Valencia 1--Nadine Klemanz had a double and two RBIs as the Falcons (6-2) won a nonleague game at Valencia.
Mikki Goldwater pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Melanie Williams had two stolen bases and scored for Valencia (0-9).
Quartz Hill 1, Burbank 0--Jodie Cox lifted a sacrifice fly to center field in the bottom of the ninth to score P.J. Patison, giving the Rebels (3-4) a nonleague victory at Quartz Hill.
Cox (3-4) also pitched all nine innings, holding the Bulldogs to one hit and striking out 18.
Alemany 8, Highland 6--Tina Curcio singled home Gloria Dominguez in the eighth inning to lift the Indians (6-2) in a nonleague game at Highland (3-3).
Royal 3, Agoura 2--Melissa Cruz singled home Tiffany Standard with one out in the ninth for the Highlanders (4-3) in a Marmonte League opener.
Simi Valley 4, Westlake 2--Lori Tande’s 10th-inning triple drove in the winning run for the Pioneers in a Marmonte League game.
Tande (2-2), a sophomore pitcher, had three hits and scored twice for Simi Valley, while striking out five.
Reseda 11, Van Nuys 0--Kristy Rebbeck and Rosie Yeatts combined for five hits and seven RBIs and held the Wolves to one hit in a Northwest Valley Conference opener at Van Nuys.
Kennedy 7, Chatsworth 3--Four players had two of the Golden Cougars’ 10 hits in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Kennedy.
Kelli Moorman had a triple and two RBIs.
Sandra Durazo had nine strikeouts in seven innings and did not give up an earned run. She has pitched 59 innings without allowing an earned run.
La Canada 9, Monrovia 0--Tara Howard pitched a no-hitter, striking out eight and walking one for the Spartans (8-2, 1-0) in a Rio Hondo League game.
Howard hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
BASEBALL
Glendale 6, Hoover 3--Phil Onsaga (2-0) pitched a three-hitter, striking out 15 and walking two, for the Dynamiters (3-1, 1-1) in a Pacific League game.
Rich Argota had two hits and drove in three runs for Glendale.
Poly 3, Canoga Park 2--Travis McGivern doubled home two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score, and Adrian Perez’s double scored McGivern with the winning run for the Parrots (5-1-1, 2-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Poly.
Reseda 14, Grant 9--Oscar Cardona, Alfredo Sanez and Jason Woolman each had three RBIs for the Regents (1-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Grant.
Quartz Hill 3, L.A. Baptist 1--Adam Boudreaux and Larry Phillips each doubled in a a run in the first inning as the Rebels (4-2) won a nonleague game against the Knights (6-3).
Burroughs 5, Canyon 1--Ryan Hickman earned his first victory and reliever J.K. Scott his third save for the Indians (5-1-1) in a Foothill League game.
Fillmore 8, St. Bonaventure 0--Chris Goodenough (2-0) pitched a four-hitter, striking out six, in a Tri-Valley League game.
Chaminade 16, St. Francis 1--Weyland Morse, Chris Martinez and Mike Whitaker each had three hits for the Eagles (8-1, 3-0) in a Mission League game.
