Robert W. Dickinson; Former Bonita Schools Superintendent

Robert W. Dickinson, 85, former superintendent of the Bonita Unified School District. A native of Waverly, Iowa, Dickinson held degrees from Stanford and UCLA. He began his career as a teacher and elementary school principal in Long Beach and Palos Verdes Estates. After a year as superintendent of the La Verne City School District, he became the first superintendent of the Bonita district, encompassing La Verne and San Dimas, in 1958. He left in 1970 to become a professor of school administration at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. In his off-duty hours, Dickinson directed church choirs in Southern California and later in San Luis Obispo. On Sunday in San Luis Obispo.
