The badly beaten body of a 14-year-old boy was found Sunday on the grounds of the Woodland Hills apartment complex where he lived, and Los Angeles police were investigating his death as a probable homicide.
Residents discovered Seiichi Yamamura about 4:30 a.m. lying dead on an interior roadway of the Viewpoint Apartments, an 800-unit guarded and gated complex on Ventura Boulevard.
LAPD Det. Rick Swanston, the lead homicide investigator at the West Valley Division, said the boy’s body bore “a lot of blunt force injuries.”
According to family members’ accounts to police, Seiichi went to bed with the rest of the family around 1:30 a.m. in their apartment on the west side of the complex. When other family members awoke around 9 a.m. he was missing, and they began searching for him.
They stumbled into police investigating at the east end of the complex where Seiichi’s body was found.
