John Robert Springer; Former Glendale Councilman

John Robert “Bob” Springer, 82, former Glendale city councilman and businessman. A native of Upland, Springer served as an Army captain during World War II. Establishing himself in Glendale, he was president and chief executive officer of Glendale Laundry & Dry Cleaning and Burbank Laundry. He headed the city’s Republican Central Committee and was the first president of the Oakmont Country Club in Glendale. Gov. Ronald Reagan appointed Springer to the California Veterans Board for three terms. The Verdugo Hills Mental Health Center honored Springer as man of the year in 1982 for his charitable work. On July 21 in Newport Beach.
