Kids Invited to Fishing Derby at Pier

For Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher wannabes, the city is sponsoring its annual Fishing Derby Aug. 17 at the municipal pier.
The competition is open to girls and boys 6 to 14 years old. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as Huck or Becky, organizers said. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
There is no fee to participate in the event. Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the event from 9 to 11:30 a.m.
