ANDREAS, Pa. — A dead deer that was paved into a roadway by a state repair crew has been removed from its highway grave.
The carcass, covered in oil and stones two weeks ago by the state Department of Transportation, was hauled away Thursday.
Walter Bortree, one of the department’s district chiefs, said it was a department crew, and not a contractor, that goofed while working on Route 895 about 65 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
The matter was under investigation.
