Orange Coast Falls in Consolation Game

Orange Coast lost a late lead to Citrus in regulation and lost the game in overtime, 96-92, in the consolation championship game of the Glendale men’s basketball tournament Saturday in Glendale.
The Pirates led, 79-69, with 1 minute 40 seconds remaining, but Citrus rallied to tie the score, 81-81, and then outscored the Pirates in overtime, 15-9. Adrian Reyes and Duane Curtis each scored 32 points and David Downs had 23 for Orange Coast (6-7).
In another Glendale tournament game:
Fullerton 93, Glendale 81--Ty-Juan Berry scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half and Sterling Rachal scored 15 of his 22 points in that half to lead Fullerton (5-8) to the third-place finish.
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Irvine Valley 80, Palomar 70--Daryl Todd scored 21 of his game-high 27 points in the second half as Irvine Valley (12-3) erased a four-point halftime deficit by outscoring visiting Palomar, 49-23.
In the Orange Coast women’s Christmas basketball tournament:
Fullerton 89, Chaffey 58--Michelle deBruijn scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds as Fullerton defeated Chaffey in the semifinals of the Orange Coast Christmas Classic.
Fullerton plays in the championship finals at 4 p.m. today.
Polly Louis scored 17 points of Chaffey (5-7).
Cypress 73, Cerritos 57--Sophomore guard Linda Rodriguez scored a career-high 34 points to lead Cypress. With Cypress ahead, 55-54, with six minutes to play, Rodriguez scored 11 straight points in a span of 4:30.
